Here is my one and only snow sculpture for this year .

The kids were always expecting to see a sculpture made when they would come over .

So today after my walk, I thought that I would surprise them.
The weather has been so nice the past 3 days.This guy was melting as I was making him,I had to put his eyes back in a few times . Riley and Breanne spotted him right away.I had to tell them what it was ,if you haven't guessed yet.I'll tell you it's a polar bear fishing .I still hadn't put the branch ( fishing rod ) in his hands in these pictures .

SPRING SHOULD BE ON ITS WAY

Got up to a minus 9F. its colder than that with the windchill .Its tough being on the edge of winter and spring .But spring will come overnight not to despair. Here are some pictures of my seedlings.Started making geranium slips and ivy slips a few weeks ago .Planted some lobelias , snapdragons peppers , the Wild Millet ( corn familly )was doing good this morning but tonight I think the cat ate one .Probably thought it was grass .Last night I started more lobelias ,cleome , chilean vine ,petunias more millet ,zinnias maybe to early for the zinnias I'll see . Except for the lobelias I use seed collected from last year .So whatever grows is still a surprise to me .I usually start my greenhouse up April 1st.I won't rush it this year since I have more grow lights downstairs .I put a table behind the couch in the living room ,brought up plants from downstairs to make room for my seedlings, the living room is bright and sunny at this time of the year . I just hope to move that table out of there by Easter .This week I'll look at my cannas ,and other bulbs .This year I will start the callas
once I'm in the greenhouse,I usually start them to soon . I also started slips from a plant I over wintered called Dimond Frost they are easy to start, they root in water and are 4.00 each to buy ,its a container plant ,makes a nice show of tiny little white blooms. I seed more than I need so I can give to the girls .Just another busy day and more to come .

KATHRYN'S KIDS HAVING FUN

This was February 16th, its our newest holiday.Its called Louis Riel Day .Louis Riel is mentioned in our family history, he was a metis leader in 1800s .Under his leadership stopped the surveying of their land by the goverment .This surveying interruption was a turning point in the creation of Manitoba . In the end some called him a traitor some called him a hereo in any case we got a day off out of it . Since Kathryn has a day care in her home ,she was free to come over early and stay for supper ,that doesn't happen often any more, since the kids in her care go home at 5:30 .So this was a treat .

WINTER IN MANITOBA

This was the icy day we had that the kids had no school .Megan and I started our snowman ,but the snow was so heavy that we got tired real quick and threw snowballs at each other .My snowman turned out to be just a block of ice . John ended up pulling them around the yard giving them rides, they had a good time .

HOME IMPROVEMENTS

Hi everyone,just wanted to say hi and to say that the home improvements are almost done .
The painting and the floors are done.Looks good the spare bedroom now looks like a bedroom.
We are still looking for pine wood 30" doors ,very hard to get ????
The economy is on all our minds .Things
are starting to fall apart in this country
as well.Whats there to say about that other than these are scary times for all of us .Hope all is well with all of yous.Laura our daughter has sold her house in Lorette.She will be building next door in a few months.That will be so exciting
to watch the house go up and to have the grand kids in walking distance .We had a ice storm a few weeks ago and school was cancelled.The kids were to stay home,Eric is 13 and Megan is 9 but she called grandma to see if they could come over.So off I went on some pretty bad icy roads (I also had to see for myself how bad the roads were to see if I was going to go to work at 3:00 )Their dad was not happy that they called me , all went well and we had a good time played outside in the rain .Its just one of three ice storms that we've had this winter .I am a pro at driving on ice grrrr.

FINDING MY WAY AROUND

Hey how about that !!!!.I just used a photo ????Oh I don't even know what you call this ,I'll call it a program that I managed to download , its call PICASA .It gathered all my pictures and I can do many things with it I'm finding . Like I don't even have to be on my blog to send pictures .All I have to do is click blog this and it goes directly into my blog how smart is that. I have tried to download SMILEBOX AND PHOTO BUCKET,I do so enjoy yours . Sorry that I'm so all over the place with my blog .I'm a backwards kind of gal,I have notice that about myself .If there's a hard way to go about something I'll find it .Wondering if there is a way to move my November blog in its proper order(like before my Christmas blogs )? Well so long its really late , 1:50 am here despite what will be displayed on the blog.The carpet fellow will be here between 8:00 and 9:00 .I think I was an owl in a previous life.

COMPANY'S COMING

 

This was the beginning of November when my brother Gabe and his wife Shirley and daughter Jody and her two sweet friendly little kids Mckenzie and Skyler came for a visit from Salt Lake City Utah.The weather sure wasn't nice for November ,it was cold with blizzard like conditions .We did go shopping on Friday ,manage to find the great Canadian Root store,that had been relocated and also that we were given wrong information on how to find it . So after driving from one end to the other of our fair city .I think it was worth the trip, I did some Christmas shopping for the grand kids.Shirley and Jody made some good buys to bring back home .It was great to have them over.
